SIA — Terms and Conditions
Effective date: 2026-05-22
Welcome to SIA. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the SIA mobile application, web application, and related services (collectively, the "App") operated by Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women ("EHCW") in partnership with ThiefDroppers Inc. ("ThiefDroppers").
By using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
If anything in these Terms is unclear, contact info@ehcw.ca.
1. Eligibility
You may use the App only if:
- You are at least 17 years old, AND
- You are an active EHCW member with a valid invite code, AND
- You have read and accepted these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
By creating an account you confirm that all three are true.
2. The service
SIA is a wellness companion app designed for EHCW members. It offers:
- A daily wellness journal with an AI conversational companion ("SIA Guardian")
- A safety net: the AI silently watches for serious risk indicators in your messages and alerts EHCW staff if it detects them (see Privacy Policy Section 5)
- Curated wellness tools (weather, recipes, news, budget, tasks, games, fact-checker, resource directory)
The App is not a medical, legal, or emergency service. See Section 5.
3. Your account
3.1 Account creation
You provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
3.2 One account per person
Each EHCW member may have one SIA account. Do not share your credentials.
3.3 Account security
Notify EHCW immediately at info@ehcw.ca if you believe your account
has been compromised.
3.4 Suspension
EHCW may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse the App, or pose a risk to other users. We will notify you of suspension where reasonable to do so.
4. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access another user's account
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
- Use the App to harass, threaten, or harm any person
- Attempt to bypass safety features (including the AI safety classifier)
- Submit prompt-injection attempts intended to manipulate the AI
- Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful content
- Submit false or misleading information knowingly
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with the App
- Resell, sublicense, or distribute the App or its content
Violation of these terms may result in account suspension and, in serious cases, referral to law enforcement.
5. Not a substitute for professional services
READ THIS CAREFULLY. This section is critical for your safety.
5.1 Not medical advice
The App provides general wellness content. It does not provide medical advice and is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. Do not rely on the App to diagnose, treat, or prevent any health condition.
5.2 Not legal advice
The App may surface legal resources (e.g., CLEO, Legal Aid Ontario) but does not provide specific legal advice. For legal questions, consult a qualified lawyer.
5.3 Not an emergency service
If you are in immediate physical danger, call 911.
The App's safety classifier may notify EHCW caseworkers when it detects serious risk indicators, but this is not a real-time emergency dispatch system. EHCW response times are not guaranteed.

5.4 AI limitations
The AI companion (SIA Guardian) is a large-language-model-based system. It can be incorrect, may misunderstand context, and is not a substitute for human judgment. Use the App's responses as one input among many, not as authoritative guidance.
6. Content
6.1 Your content
Anything you write in the App (journal entries, conversations with SIA, budget transactions, tasks) is your content. You retain ownership.
You grant EHCW and ThiefDroppers a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the App to you. We do not use your content for advertising, data sales, or training general-purpose AI models.
6.2 Our content
The App's design, code, brand, content, AI prompts, and other intellectual property belong to EHCW and ThiefDroppers (or our licensors). You may not copy, distribute, or modify our content without written permission.
6.3 Resource content
Third-party content surfaced by the App (CLEO guides, weather data, news articles, recipe videos) belongs to its respective copyright holders. We surface it under fair-use, link-out, or licensed-access terms.
7. AI safety routing
By using the Reflections feature, you consent to the AI safety classifier evaluating your messages and, if HIGH-risk indicators are detected, automatically alerting EHCW caseworkers so they can offer support.
You can:
- Not use Reflections to avoid safety routing entirely
- Use other modules (Weather, Recipes, etc.) which do not run safety classification
- Delete your account to end all processing
You cannot opt out of safety routing while continuing to use Reflections — the safety feature is the core purpose of the App.
8. Privacy
Your privacy is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Read it.
9. Data residency
Personal information is stored in Canada (Montreal data centre). A background knowledge corpus (containing no personal information) is currently stored in the European Union. See Privacy Policy Section 7.
10. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
EHCW and ThiefDroppers do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- AI responses will be accurate, complete, or appropriate to your situation
- The safety classifier will detect every high-risk situation
- Alerts to EHCW staff will be acted on within any specific time
- The App will meet your specific requirements
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. In those jurisdictions, exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
EHCW and ThiefDroppers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, service interruption, or personal injury — even if EHCW or ThiefDroppers has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
The total aggregate liability of EHCW and ThiefDroppers to you for all claims arising out of or related to the App is limited to the greater of:
- The amount you paid (if any) for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim, OR
- CAD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless EHCW, ThiefDroppers, and their affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your access to or use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party right
- Your content
13. Termination
13.1 By you
You may terminate at any time by deleting your account (Profile → Delete my account).
13.2 By us
We may terminate your access if:
- You violate these Terms
- Your continued use poses safety or legal risk
- EHCW ceases to operate the App (in which case we'll give you 60 days' notice and the right to export your data)
13.3 Effect of termination
Termination does not affect:
- Audit records we are required to retain by law
- Rights or obligations that have accrued prior to termination
Sections 5 (Not a substitute for professional services), 10 (Disclaimers), 11 (Limitation of liability), 12 (Indemnification), 14 (Governing law), and 16 (Miscellaneous) survive termination.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change:
- We will post the new version at this URL
- We will update the "Effective date" at the top
- We will notify you in the App and by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect
Continued use of the App after the effective date of new Terms constitutes acceptance of the changes.
If you do not accept the changes, you may delete your account before the effective date.
16. Miscellaneous
16.1 Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and EHCW/ThiefDroppers regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements.
16.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
16.3 No waiver
Failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
16.4 Assignment
You may not assign these Terms. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of operations to another organization that agrees to be bound by these Terms.
16.5 No third-party beneficiaries
These Terms do not create any rights for any third party.
16.6 Headings
Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.

- ThiefDroppers — ThiefDroppers Inc.
- EHCW member — a person registered with EHCW.
- Invite code — a one-use code issued by EHCW.
- AI safety classifier — automated system that evaluates messages for serious risk indicators.
- SOS alert — automatic notification to EHCW staff when the classifier detects high-risk content.
- Content — any data, text, files, information, images, or other materials you submit through the App.
By creating an account, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
